Dear Kenyon Swim/Dive Families,
We are looking forward to seeing all of you at Family Weekend, which promises to be a great opportunity to connect with fellow families and show our support for the team.
Family Weekend Dates and Events
Friday, October 18
Informal Meet-and-Greet for First-Year and Transfer Parents
Time: 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Location: Lowry Center, Room 237
When we say ‘informal’ we mean it. Just a chance to stop by, meet a few new families and some who have been around for a while, learn a few names and attach them to faces (faces you will likely see often in the coming months).
Annual Frosh-Varsity Meet
Time: 5:00 PM
Saturday, October 19
KSDPG General Meeting
Time: 9:45 AM - 11:00 AM
Location: Lowry Center, Room 237
Topics include a discussion with the coaches about the upcoming season and an overview of KSDPG activities. And this is your chance to learn - or practice - the signature skill of all Kenyon swim/dive family members: the Kenyon Clap.
SENIOR FAMILIES: after the meeting, we will regroup on the steps outside Rm 237 and have a brief huddle on what to expect this season.
Kenyon Relay Meet and Fletch Diving Meet
Time: 12:00 PM
Dues
KSDPG collects dues to fund purchases of spirit gear and snacks for athletes, cheer gear for families, and pre-pay some social events. Please note, as the season progresses, there may be additional requests for donations to motivate and feed athletes, and socialize with other families.
KSDPG dues for 2024-25 are $100 per athlete. Dues can be paid in the following ways:
Venmo (KenyonSDPF)
Zelle (kenyonsdpf@gmail.com)
Cash or check (made out to Kenyon Swim & Dive Parents Group). During Family Weekend, Lyn Geboy will be accepting payment by cash or check.
Upcoming Major Events
Total Performance Invitational (TPSC) (Nov)
Training Trip (On Hold - Siesta Key, FL) (Jan)
Senior Day (Jan. 31)
NCAC Conference Championships (Granville, OH) (Feb)
NCAA D3 Championships (Greensboro, NC) (March)
Volunteers
Additionally, many thanks for Bethany Williston and Maria Srnka who will be coordinating spirit wear for TPSC, NCACs, and NCAAs.
We welcome volunteers! Whether you have a lot or a little time, there are opportunities to match your skills and availability. Your participation greatly enhances the experience for both families and athletes throughout the season. Contact Lyn, Richard, or Ellen for more information.
Improving Group Communications
As the season progresses, we find that the need for more rapid communications grows.
So, we are setting up a GroupMe for KSDPG. This will allow coordinators to quickly send out messages to the group (even when we are traveling or are on-site at meets), and make it easier for members of the group to communicate with each other.
If you cannot stand the idea of adding another app to your phone or getting more instant-messages, no worries, you don’t need to join the GroupMe. You will still get the routine information by email. If, however, you are interested, look for an invite in the coming days.
We look forward to seeing you soon. Go Kenyon!
Best regards,
Ellen Elmore, Richard Ford, and Lyn Geboy
